The other open thread is burbling along, but it’s been a bit, so I’d put this one up. Some random thoughts.
The reportage is that the Alaska Doppleganger was recruited by the Democrats. Bad Democrats, bad democrats! (Said in the tone one says to a dog that has chewed up a rug)
Vivague Ramaslimey has apparently withdrawn his ad featuring Amy Acton’s mother, but has made no comment about apologizing or reconsidering, which he would have to do for me to say ‘Good boy! Good boy!!’
This NYTimes article discusses the worst ads of the cycle, if you have a strong stomach, check out this one.
I think the Alaskans who pulled this caper are great patriots.
I understand Ramaswami Mahesh Yogi in Ohio is going to run an ad of himself being taken by Trump from behind to illustrate that rape ain’t so bad, kinda like MAGA thinks slavery was Christian kindness and welfare.
Hey look, RFK’s new wonder drug unilaterally approved by him alone bags its first miracle cure:

Oswald and Sirhan Sirhan, hired by republicans, and cheered in Texas for their deadly deeds, missed the main show.
The question before us is: Which way Western Man?
So says the new White House election “messaging”.

They’ve used it before in Greenland, which Trump will invade and kill.
I confess that, here in California, I’m paying more attention to the various propositions than to the candidates. Simply because which candidate will win is only in serious doubt when you get down to stuff like the State Board of Equalization.
I mean, I’d love to have my current Assembly member lose. Not because I’m particularly partial to her Republican opponent. Just because, in her first campaign, she demonstrated a devotion to truth and honesty which reminds me of nobody so much as Donald Trump. Even absent the impending blue
wavetsunami, I wouldn’t expect it to happen, but hey, a guy can drsam.Perhaps the most interesting is a (relatively tiny, like 0.5%) sales tax increase for regional transit. The problem is, the regional transit agency most in need of more funds (BART) has built an impressive record of fiscal (and general) mismanagement. The well-run ones are actually doing OK financially, and don’t need the money. So I’m hoping it goes down in flames.
I could go for Beshear in 2028:

I couldn’t copy the paragraph, but read his six bullet points therein to right the ship, or rather raise it from the Mariana Trench the conservative movement torpedoed it to.
I guess, since the Presidential primaries will start in 2 weeks, why not?
Haven’t heard Beshear speak, which I would need to hear before hoping. I wonder is Ossoff’s delivery works for primaries, though he’s sworn he’s not going to run, but we’re just talking, right? I’m praying that Newsome doesn’t get any traction. I would be against any woman running, not because it would be bad for the country, but because it would be terrible for them. Who else should we be thinking about it?
I fear the Dems will have to apply the one-drop-rule to any candidate and make sure that he (no she!) has never had any carnal relationship with any non-Aryan (Indian Aryans most definitely are not “proper” Aryans and as bad as n-words). And only conservative evangelicals can be considered. Anything else will give the GOP voters too easy an excuse to go R again without a moment of hesitation. Not that they will need any excuse in the first place. [/s]

Can I get that Gazpacho hot?
I think Ossoff will be strongly discouraged from running. Even if Georgia actually elects a Democrat as Governor, the Democrats won’t want to take any chance on losing that Senate seat.
I don’t think so. A big chunk of what has been the Republican base recently are what you could call “habit voters” — people who have routinely voted for them because they (and their families) have done so for time out of mind. Once the habit is broken, it’s much easier to do it again. Especially since they will have had a couple more years of Trump (or Vance) reminding them why they kicked the habit.
You’re right that the devout racists won’t stop voting on racial purity. But, while there are an appalling number of them, they just aren’t numerous enough to win a national election.
