The other open thread is burbling along, but it’s been a bit, so I’d put this one up. Some random thoughts.
The reportage is that the Alaska Doppleganger was recruited by the Democrats. Bad Democrats, bad democrats! (Said in the tone one says to a dog that has chewed up a rug)
Vivague Ramaslimey has apparently withdrawn his ad featuring Amy Acton’s mother, but has made no comment about apologizing or reconsidering, which he would have to do for me to say ‘Good boy! Good boy!!’
This NYTimes article discusses the worst ads of the cycle, if you have a strong stomach, check out this one.
People outside the administration have dirt. Start on the periphery and work your way in. Get people to flip and build your case patiently and quietly.
Neither do I, which is why I used phrases like “concentrate on” and “at first.” What I’m talking about is the public face of the Democratic agenda for the first however-many months. And I don’t think they’re going to get much blowback for going after someone as odious as Hegseth or something as odious as ICE whenever they choose to.
I’m sure the Dem leadership will be calling me for advice any day now.
i haven’t seen the data, but i’m sure someone has it….
how many Dems ran on investigations vs ‘make shit better’ ?
if you want to make the public happy, you have to give them what they want. and maybe that’s not what the internet wants.
I suppose a lot of it’s in the messaging: as well as everything else you do, you have to make it really clear from the start – including on social media etc – that the investigation is the only way to make shit better (e.g. ICE – investigate, and start with publicising as much data as exists on citizen arrests, injuries, deaths in custody etc.)
…until they find something really damning.
I think Trump’s corruption is really damning. I would make a big noise about how many billions he and his family have raked in, and the favours he’s done in exchange.
